I have been admiring my stitching friends' gorgeous Châtelaine-WIPs for a while now. (Oh yes Lissanne, Melissa, Joysze, Wendy and Ineke, I'm talking about you here!) Specialty threads, specialty stitches, beads and crystals, stunning details... For a long time I thought that I have to resist because my to-do list is already so long. But then I realised that all those specialty threads and stitches would be a completely new, never-before-attempted and utterly exciting adventure for me, and that thought got stuck in my head until all my resolve to fight the temptation had completely crumbled away...
Ensiksi harkitsin pienempiä projekteja / First, I focused my attention on the smaller projects:

Rakastan puita, ja nuo saisi valmiiksi pienemmässä ajassa kuin isot Châtelainet. Halusin kuitenkin vilkaista läpi myös ne isot Châtelainet, ja sillä tutkimusmatkalla suorastaan rakastuin Evening in the Parkiin ja Winter Watergardeniin. Löytyi toki monta muutakin upeaa projektia, mutta nuo kaksi jäivät mieleen aivan erityisen ihanina. Päätin, että teen jomman kumman niistä, vaikka ne paljon aikaa vaativatkin. Voihan siihen työhön sitten palata joksikin aikaa useamman kerran HAED-sivujen välillä, ei minulla ole kiirettä saada sitä valmiiksi vaan se itse pistely (ja lumoavankauniit yksityiskohdat!) on siinä se pääasia. Winter Watergardenin saa tällä hetkellä ainoastaan sitä varten perustetun yahoo-groupin kautta, ja se ryhmä lopetetaan pian (tämän kuun viimeisen päivän jälkeen). Onneksi hoksasin tämän, kävin liittymässä ryhmään, ja sain ohjeen ostettua. Nyt on siis molemmat vaihtoehdot avoinna ja aikaa tehdä perusteellisesti pohdiskeltu valinta.
I love trees, and those smaller designs would be a lot faster to stitch than the bigger ones. However, I did want to also look through the bigger Châtelaine designs available, and totally fell in love with Evening in the Park and Winter Watergarden. Of course there were also others that caught my attention, but those two I found to be the most irresistible ones. So I came to the conclusion that I would choose my first Châtelaine from those two - I am, after all, in no hurry to get the piece finished and can return to it many times between HAED-pages. The finished product is less important than the stitching itself and the gorgeous details I will discover on the way. Luckily I noticed that Winter Watergarden, at least for the moment, can only be downloaded via its own yahoo-group, and that group is closing soon (at the end of this month). Of course I joined the group right away and got the design, so now I have both of those gorgeous options open and can take my time choosing one.

Silkin kiilto sekä erikoislangat, helmet ja kristallit eivät pääse oikeuksiinsa näissä kuvissa, luonnossa näissä töissä on varmasti paljon enemmän koskemattoman pakkaslumen säihkettä ja jääkristallien kimallusta. Miesystäväni mielestä Winter Watergarden on kivempi, mutta itse en vielä osaa päättää. Molempia en voi aloittaa, koska tarvikkeisiin käytettävät rahasummat ovat näissä niin isot. Nämä työt on tehtävä yksi kerrallaan, toista saa aloittaa vasta kun ensimmäinen on valmis! Ja kerran aloitettu työ on sitten tehtävä valmiiksi, näin kallis työ ei saa ufoutua! Siksi pitääkin harkita tarkkaan kumpaan työhön nyt ostaa tarvikkeet.
The pictures don't show the shine of the silk or the glitter of the beads, crystals and specialty threads, but based on the list of supplies, there will be a pretty nice amount of those. Boyfriend likes Winter Watergarden better, but I myself can't make up my mind yet. I can't start both of them as the supplies cost so much, so some more comparing and deliberation is needed. And once I've started one of these, I will have to finish it too, for a project this expensive mustn't end up a UFO. I see a long period of careful consideration in my future!
