Kankaanvaihdos / A Change of Fabric

Ilman salamaa / Without flash:

Salamalla / With flash:

Tämmöinen perfektionisti kun olen, päätin vielä viimeviikkoisen blogimerkintäni jälkeen selailla nettikauppoja ja katsella, löytyisikö Evening in the Parkia varten joku vielä kivempi kangas kuin se suositeltu ruskeanharmaa. Ja löytyihän sellainen 123stitch.comista: Picture This Plus Belfast pellava värissä Dawn.

Being the perfectionist I am, I decided after last week's blog post to go and see if I could find a nicer fabric for this project. I eventually found one at 123stitch.com: a colour called Dawn by Picture This Plus, on 32-count Belfast linen. I ordered it straight away and hoped it would get here in time for this month's IHSW. I was so happy to receive it today!

Based on the pictures, I had thought the colour to be more grey and less blue than it is on my piece of fabric, but after I had laid all the floss and beads out onto it, I saw that the piece I have should be just fine for this project in spite of it looking slightly different than I thought it would. I like this colour a lot better than the brownish grey recommended for Evening in the Park, so I'm going to start it on this fabric and see how it looks. I can always start over on the brownish grey if it starts to look bad.

So in the pictures above you can see my new floss toss for Evening in the Park, first without flash so you can see the colour of the fabric better, and then with flash so you can see the colours of the floss and beads. Now I'm off to re-bag the floss into floss-a-way bags, find the centre of the fabric and start stitching! I'll be back after the weekend with my very first progress pic of my very first Châtelaine, Evening in the Park! Have a really productive IHSW and a great time stitching, as I certainly plan to!

It's beautiful and I think it will work very well with the colors! You're brave, I think, to change it up, and it looks like it will be for the better! Can't wait to stalk your blog come Monday and see your progress!
